One of my favorite quotes on creating art is “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free” (Michelangelo).
Even though I am not a sculptor, (my attempts at sculpting when I was younger were pretty funny); that is very much my feeling on the way of writing, especially the part when I read the original words I’d written and a different word or image might come to mind that feels more real, harmonious, or melodious to me than the first ones.
My intention with this coming book of poems has been honesty without excluding natural goodness, gratitude, and wonder.
Tea right now complete with condensation on the table and a little (in the process of healing) burn on my wrist from having carelessly adjusted a slice of pizza in the oven.
