An author and speaker I’ve enjoyed who is a great teacher of meditation, which is also part of yoga, is Thich Nhat Hanh. In his book he wrote of someone deep in grief saying, ‘It’s okay; the dandelion holds my smile.’
And that can be true of all flowers and nature, including people, like this wild jasmine in my bedroom. You can feel sad for a reason, maybe you feel lonely or unappreciated by someone, or sad for someone else, and you don’t feel happy today. The jasmine smiles for me. I place it upon the window sill after the photo so it can feel the morning sun. And here it is just before it received that first shine of morning light and now I see the light through the petals along with the smile it holds for whoever needs it.
